2019 Match 12A @ Miramar Win 10-8

The day didn’t start so well at Miramar with the security office not opening until 7:30 (1st tee time 8:30) and then standing in line, the ultra tight security check  which was a long process with fingerprints taken, individual photos, signatures, reciting my mothers maiden name, divulging my Facebook password and showing IDs, insurance, car registration and basically getting an ultra high security clearance for just a one day pass! While in line waiting for the computers to do their background checks on this group of Senior Golfers (we are not remotely close to fitting the profile of terrorists) I was worried that my 1970 conviction of marijuana possession would pop up and I wouldn’t be allowed on base! It was easier for me to get my Global Entry Pass  than getting on Miramar. What a waste of time and resources!!

Despite this unexpected long delay and short warmup time The Blue Crew prevailed and had a good day at Miramar on Wed beating them 10-8 in some hotly contested matches

Team 1 With Russ Friesen (79/71) and Val Primante (78/73) , in his first Sr Team Match, had a very close match but  earned all 6 points. It was especially sweet victory as Josh Senter was on the opposing team.

Team 2 with Pete Humlicek(85/74) and Jerry Moskovitz (86/71) came back from losing the first nine by 6 points, and won 7 points on the back nine  to win the match and earn 4 points.

Team 3 with Dave Mulgrew(86/69) and Manley Bland (96/74) just couldn’t overcome the hot shooting of their opponents. One of the opposing players, Bill Halloran aged 83 nearly shot his age with an 84 (net 67)
