2019 Match 07A Home vs Encinitas Ranch Win 17-1

Beautiful day at Twin Oaks with a great result for the Boys in Blue! Big win today 17-1!!! Course was in beautiful condition except for the LONG grass in the roughs and especially around the greens. In my match, it was a distinct advantage with our opponents missing many chip shots. The biggest negative is that pace of play slows down so much with time spent looking for balls that aren’t visible in the long grass.

Team 1 = Al Pak and Dale Kelly-Cochrane played a very close match that wasn’t decided until the 18th hole with Al and Dale getting all 6 points. Al shot a blistering 76/66!!!

Team 2 = Paul McGurgan and Mitch Anderson Tied their opponents on the front nine but dominated on the back nine and closed them out after 17. Final Score 5-1. Paul played well today with an 88/70.

Team 3 = Manly Bland and Dave Mulgrew won the front nine by six points and then held off a spirited comeback and closed Encinitas out after 17 and getting all 6 points. Dave shot a respectable(for him!) 90/68.

 I expect a different type of match next Monday at Encinitas Ranch…but for now we were very happy to prevail on our home course.
