2019 Match 14A Home vs Pala Mesa Loss 6-12

The sun was shining brightly; not so the boys in Blue!  Phil Bystrom was taken by Illness, which brought all of the boys down.  Unfortunately, Phil had called me in the morning to tell me he was sick and couldn’t play.  I kept returning his call, only getting his voicemail.  When I got to the course, some of the team mentioned that there was a screw up in the pro shop, and they did not know there was a match today!  Naturally, I assumed that this was the reason for Phil’s call, and he was on the driving range or putting green and did not hear his phone.  So, I am on the driving range when the course says they would like to send us off early because they want us done by 1:30 because they have a full field shotgun tourney starting at that time.  So, I shoot down to the starter’s to find that the always inspirational Phil Bystrom was nowhere in sight!  Oh crud!  We are on the tee, so I made the decision to go it alone, giving the other team 3 points and hoping that I could win back the other 3!  I’m sure, given the score, you know how that turned out.  Net 68 by Brian Smith and Jerry Moskovitz.  70’s by Anderson and Dudley, with an uncharacteristic net 81 by Jerry Smith.  I played old club member Mike Craighead on the front, his 39 to my 46, and I played his partner on the back, his 41 to my 46!  Sometimes you are the bug, other times the windshield!  Final score, TO – 6, PM – 12.
